Visiting I2PC Illinois

Illinois Symposium on Parallelism - Travel

September 10th and 11th, 2013
Siebel Center for Computer Science
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Travel and Lodging

Participants are responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses.

While attendees are responsible for their own travel and lodging, we have reserved blocks of rooms at two nearby locations for your convenience: Hampton Inn - Urbana and the Comfort Suites. Please deal directly with your hotel when making reservations or if you have inquiries about service. We have no access to hotel records and are not affiliated with any hotel.

Two other nearby hotels that the Department of Computer Science frequently works with are the I-Hotel and the Hilton Garden Inn.

The Hampton Inn has the advantage of being just two blocks from the Siebel Center for Computer Science. The Comfort Suites and I-Hotel are further, but both offer a shuttle. The Hilton Garden Inn is further away, and you will likely need to drive in.

Hampton Inn

The Hampton Inn is located just two blocks north of the Siebel Center for Computer Science in Urbana, Illinois. They offer free parking, free breakfast, free high-speed internet, a business center, exercise room, and pool. We have a block of 20 rooms reserved for participants at the Symposium, which will be held through August 16th, 2013. The negotiated rate for these rooms is $159.00 (not including taxes). To make your reservation at the Hampton, please call 217-337-1100 with the group code CHXISP (the letter "I", not the number "1"). Please note any cancellation deadlines when you speak with the hotel. Again, please note that we are not affiliated with the Hampton Inn and cannot assist you in making or altering these reservations. For questions about the hotel's amenities, availability, location, etc., please contact the Hampton Inn directly at 217-337-1100.

Comfort Suites

The Comfort Suites are located a bit north of campus and provide free shuttle service for all guests (you must arrange this independently with the hotel). They offer free high-speed internet, an exercise room, and a pool. We have set aside 30 rooms for your convenience. For attendees, the negotiated room rate will be $89.00 per night, exclusive of tax and fees. To reserve your room, please call the hotel at 217-328-3500 and say you're with the Department of Computer Science. Please note any cancellation deadlines. Please contact the Comfort Suites directly with all questions related to reservations or their facilities and services.

I-Hotel

The I-Hotel is located in the southwest corner of the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. It is integrated with the university research park. They feature a restaurant and bar, fitness center, business suite, and complementary shuttle to both CMI Airport and all University buildings.

Hilton Garden Inn

The Hilton Garden Inn is located just to the west of campus. Services include complimentary wifi and a 24-hour business center, a 24-hour fitness center, all-night snack store, and complimentary parking.

Parking

Please note that parking options near Siebel Center are extremely limited. If you are staying at the Hampton Inn, you can park your vehicle at the hotel and walk to Siebel Center. Both the Comfort Suites and the I-Hotel offer complimentary shuttle service. Please check with the Comfort Suites or I-Hotel if you are staying at either of these locations and need information about parking and/or shuttles. If possible, we recommend you exercise a non-car option when coming to Siebel.

Parking meters on side streets around Siebel Center often have a 2-hour maximum. The University of Illinois offers metered parking in a garage two blocks north of our building, across from the Hampton Inn. Most city and university parking meters cost $1 per hour and only accept coins. The university also offers day meter passes for university meters (not for city meters, which are also present on campus). For more information about purchasing day meter permits, contact the Campus Parking Department. Department of Computer Science staff cannot provide, sell, or arrange parking permits on behalf of workshop participants.

If you choose to park at a University of Illinois meter, please familiarize yourself with university parking regulations.

When using City of Urbana meters, you will want to carefully read and follow the city parking regulations.
